Fast HVS-Based Mode Decision for H.264/AVC Using Just-Noticeable-Difference

In this paper, we propose a fast HVS-based mode decision algorithm to reduce the computational complexity of H.264/AVC. First, we use the Just Noticeable Difference (JND) visual model to analyze the residual data, then utilize the result to forecast the structure in an macroblock. This method improves the computational efficiency by reducing the variable modes, and also maintains performance quality.
